Worlds of Vampire Bikers
Worlds of Vampire Bikers at Worlds of
Fun in Kansas City, Missouri
Haunted Houses, Horror Movies, Costume Bashes,
along with Classic Monsters & Ghouls come out
every year in October for the Halloween season.
This time of year every cable channel is featuring
reruns like “Nightmare on Elm Street”, Friday the Thirteenth”,
“The Thing”, “The Exorcist”, and “Child’s Play”, while highly
anticipated new horror movies are released in theater and on
DVD. Halloween to me is not just trick or treat - it’s one of my
favorite party spells.
In the Midwest, thousands of people line up to get the
bejesus scared out of them at some of the top rated haunted
houses in the country. These haunted houses are built like
movie sets with hundreds of actors and scare experts. And
Midwesterners love it!
This brings us to Chromed Out Magazine’s haunted theme
pick of 2009 - The Halloween Haunt spectacular at Worlds of
Fun in Kansas City, Missouri.
Not only does Worlds of Fun have the top rated new roller
coaster in the world (The Prowler), but during September
25 - November 1, 2009 Halloween Haunt is one of the largest
Halloween events in the country
featuring daytime scare-free
family fun, and night-time
monsters at play. Over the
past several years Worlds of
fun has become the Halloween
destination for families in Kansas
City and in the Midwest. The
park attracts with Scare Zones,
Mazes, Family Fun, and Exclusive
Halloween Shows.
Chromed Out Magazine got
the call to help with some new
additions to the Halloween
Haunt’s Pagan Playground for 2009. Club Blood and Biker
Vampires!
Club Blood is a new underground hot spot for blood thirsty
vampires. People can venture underground where human
victims are drained of their life to nourish the children of the
night and drink their favorite libation. Paint the town red!
When Chromed Out’s Terri Barber (center with Ruth and
Michelle - pictured below) first told us about the idea of Biker
Vampires, we thought… well of course! A lot of bikers think
they are vampires anyway. And don’t forget about Kiefer
Sutherland and his band of biker vampires in “Lost Boys”
swooping down onto their unsuspecting victims by night. The
question is what can we do to help?
The scheme was for us to enlist a group of real bikers and
their bikes to be a part of the promotional photo shoot and
play the roles of biker vampires during the evening haunt
on Friday and Saturday nights. Well, I don’t know how many
vampires have ever played bikers before, but bikers playing
vampires did not seem to be a far reach.
We organized a team of bikes and bikers along with Pat
Hahn and the Newcom ers Harley-
Trike driven hearse and met at
Worlds of Fun to get transformed.
The set was hauntingly appropriate
and decorated with caskets and
tombstones plus the staff was very
into the whole vampire thing.
My favorite part of the shoot
was at the costume, make-up and
hair department. It was every bit
of what one would expect on a
Hollywood film lot. The vampire
false teeth were a little difficult
and the mascara was not my usual
Chromed Out 43
shade, but the finished result made it all worth it. We had three
sexy girls and three male bikers (maybe not so sexy) for the
shoot.
Brent Barr was the director for the operation and was
creatively focused. “I think he has a secret passion to be a
Vampire Biker.” Overall it was a great day, a lot of fun and
Chromed Out would like to thank Terri, Rick Wheaton, LB, Jack,
Ruth, Pat, and Michelle along with the Worlds of Fun staff for
pitching in making it a success.
So make the haunted hike to Worlds of Fun September
25th thru November 1st for this Halloween experience. Try to
get there before 7pm so you can watch the opening parade and
witness the dark Overlord summoning his army of underworlds
as the park transforms into the Halloween Haunt.
The park closes down on November 1 and reopens in early
April. Don’t forget the best way to enjoy the park with all their
world class roller coasters, rides for all ages, Oceans of Fun,
food, drinks, shows, cabins, RV hook-ups, and special events is
to buy a Season Pass.
Worlds of Fun is Biker Friendly and Biker Fun.
Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun are located
off the east loop of I-435 at exit 54 in Kansas City, Missouri.
